New Delhi, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : The Pakistan cricket team, once feared for its fast bowlers, is currently in search of a reliable pace option in the Test format. Haris Rauf hopes to fill this gap. The team lacks bowlers consistently delivering speeds of 140 kilometers per hour or more.
Currently, Rauf is participating in the Presidents Trophy Grade 1 tournament in Pakistan. His performance in this competition is crucial for securing his place in the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka.
Recently, Rauf achieved a significant milestone by taking five wickets in a first-class match for the third time. He delivered an impressive performance, conceding just 34 runs in 13 overs.
Following this achievement, Rauf expressed his ambitions in a departmental video, stating, “When you play cricket, there is always a purpose that drives you. I am trying to push my name forward for the Sri Lanka series. Pakistan needs a fast bowler. There are still many matches left in the Presidents Trophy. Let’s see what the future holds.”
He added, “Last season, I played four-day cricket and spent time in Grade II cricket before the ODI series against Australia. Whenever you get the chance, you try to improve yourself in the longer format. The series against Sri Lanka is coming up, and I have time to work on myself. I want to make the most of it.”
At 32, the right-arm fast bowler has played just one Test match in his career, which was against England in Rawalpindi in 2022, where he took one wicket before being sidelined due to injury.
