Mumbai, March 23: Hardik Pandya, the star all-rounder of the Indian cricket team and captain of the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), is often in the spotlight for his statements. Recently, a remark made during an IPL 2026 event has once again brought him into the limelight, shedding light on the spiritual side of his life.

In a viral video from a Mumbai Indians (MI) event, Pandya shared that he listens to the Hanuman Chalisa while driving his luxury car, claiming it brings him positive energy. The video also features MI’s batting coach, Kieron Pollard, alongside him.

Pandya stated, “It’s interesting that I own a Ferrari, yet I still listen to the Hanuman Chalisa in my car. It’s quite cool. God has been kind to me. I believe everyone would agree that no song can provide the same positive energy as the Hanuman Chalisa. I am very clear about this.”

His comments prompted fans present to chant “Jai Shri Ram” in response.

Pandya was part of the Mumbai Indians from 2015 to 2021. In 2022, he moved to the Gujarat Titans, leading them to victory in their first season. Under his captaincy, the Titans reached the finals again in 2023, though they faced defeat against CSK.

In 2024, Pandya returned to Mumbai, appointed as captain in place of Rohit Sharma. However, MI’s performance that season was disappointing, finishing at the bottom of the table. The team showed improvement in IPL 2025, reaching the playoffs.

The Mumbai Indians have not won the IPL title since 2020. Under Pandya’s leadership, the team aims to reclaim the championship. Notably, MI has won the IPL title five times, always under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.
