Gujarat Vidyapeeth Empowers Students with Natural Farming Training

Gujarat Vidyapeeth trains students in natural farming, promoting chemical-free agriculture and environmental awareness.

Ahmedabad, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : Gujarat Vidyapeeth in Ahmedabad is providing students with both theoretical and practical training in natural farming. This initiative aims to raise awareness among the youth about chemical-free food and environmental conservation.

Students enrolled in the program receive 20 hours of training each month, focusing on the significance of natural farming and the production of organic vegetables.

Binesh Kothiwar, a student at Gujarat Vidyapeeth, shared that the training has highlighted how natural farming can significantly enhance various aspects of life, including yield, soil health, food quality, and overall well-being. He expressed a desire to implement natural farming practices across Gujarat.

Another student, Janvi Jadav, pointed out the prevalent use of chemical fertilizers and the health issues they can cause. She emphasized the importance of prioritizing natural farming, stating that the training has equipped her with both knowledge and practical skills.

According to the administration at Gujarat Vidyapeeth, students are being educated about the drawbacks of chemical farming and fertilizers under the mantra of “health, prosperity, and wealth preservation.” They are also learning to create natural fertilizers and pesticides using cow dung and other organic materials.

Dr. Harshad Patel, Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapeeth, noted that natural farming has been incorporated into the BRS curriculum. To provide hands-on experience, the university has established facilities for growing vegetables using natural farming methods, where students learn how to produce and utilize natural fertilizers like Jeevamrut and Ghan Jeevamrut.

Assistant Professor Dr. Shailesh Chaudhary explained that these natural inputs are essential for nutrition. Students actively participate in their creation, and when crops are ready, they learn to manage pests using traditional methods like Agni Astra and Nima Astra.

Clearly, vegetables grown through natural farming not only benefit health but also enhance soil fertility. By educating the youth about sustainable agriculture, Gujarat Vidyapeeth is setting a commendable example and encouraging the adoption of sustainable farming practices.
