Ahmedabad, April 19: The 30th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is set to take place on Monday between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Narendra Modi Stadium. GT is eager to maintain their winning momentum.
After losing their first two matches against Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals, GT bounced back with victories over Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Kolkata Knight Riders.
GT’s bowling unit, which was their strength last year, has regained its form and is performing exceptionally well at all stages of the innings. Prasidh Krishna is once again among the leading wicket-takers, while Rashid Khan has excelled in the middle overs. Additionally, Siraj and Rabada are also showing good form.
Captain Shubman Gill has been consistently impressive, scoring half-centuries in all three of the team’s victories. Jos Buttler is also in great shape, having played remarkable innings against Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians are struggling to find their rhythm. After breaking their streak of early match losses, the team has faced four consecutive defeats, causing them to slip to the lower end of the points table.
MI has lost four out of five matches so far. Currently, they are far from the top four race. After winning their first match against Kolkata Knight Riders, MI has suffered defeats against Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings.
Jasprit Bumrah, despite being economical, has yet to take a wicket in five matches, and the entire bowling unit has struggled to take wickets and stop the flow of runs.
India’s T20 World Cup champion Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma are both going through a rough patch, managing only one half-century between them. However, the return of Quinton de Kock has been a positive for the team; he scored an unbeaten 112 runs against Punjab Kings. Quinton replaced Rohit Sharma, who is sidelined due to a hamstring injury.
In their previous encounters, Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians have played a total of eight IPL matches, with GT having the upper hand, winning five, while MI has secured only three victories.
