Gandhinagar, August 28: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi extended their warm wishes to citizens on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. They highlighted the festival’s significance in celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters. Meanwhile, state BJP President Jagdish Vishwakarma emphasized the importance of recognizing women’s respect, safety, and empowerment.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel described Raksha Bandhan as a festival symbolizing “sacred affection and unwavering trust” between siblings. He noted that the festival is an important representation of family values, cultural traditions, and respect for women’s empowerment. CM Patel expressed, “Warm wishes to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan.” He hoped that the festival would bring joy, peace, prosperity, and harmony to families.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi also shared his greetings on ‘X’, stating, “A promise that goes beyond words. Happy Raksha Bandhan!”
BJP state president Jagdish Vishwakarma characterized Raksha Bandhan as a symbol of love, affection, and mutual trust between siblings. He mentioned that Indians worldwide celebrate this festival with joy and enthusiasm. The act of a sister tying a rakhi on her brother‘s wrist signifies her wishes for his happiness, health, and safety, while also representing the enduring affection and mutual responsibility between siblings.
Vishwakarma stated that the responsibilities associated with Raksha Bandhan are mutual. Brothers are expected to stand by their sisters and protect their honor, safety, happiness, and self-respect at every stage of life. He noted that this festival serves as an opportunity to reaffirm the commitment to support each other during difficult times and to share in each other’s happiness.
He linked the festival’s message to the broader issue of women’s empowerment, stating that Indian culture holds women in high regard and dignity. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP government has prioritized women’s empowerment as a central aspect of national development through initiatives that enhance women’s safety, dignity, economic independence, and participation in decision-making.
The BJP state president concluded that Gujarat is also progressing in this direction under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s leadership.
