New Delhi, September 21 (Patrika English News): The revised Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates will come into effect across the country from Monday, September 22, coinciding with the first day of Navratri. To pass on the benefit of lower GST rates, companies from diverse sectors have already announced price cuts on their products.

375 Items to Get Cheaper
With the new rates, nearly 375 products – ranging from kitchen essentials and medicines to electronic appliances and vehicles – will become cheaper. The revised structure includes two main tax slabs of 5% and 18%, while luxury items will attract 40% GST. Tobacco and related products will continue to remain under the 28% slab with additional cess. The government has instructed businesses to ensure that customers receive the full benefit of the tax cuts.
TVs, ACs and Washing Machines at Lower Prices
Television manufacturers will reduce prices by ₹2,500 to ₹85,000 depending on the model. From September 22, GST on televisions with screens larger than 32 inches will drop from 28% to 18%. Similar reductions are expected in prices of air conditioners and washing machines, giving consumers relief ahead of the festive season.
Amul Cuts Prices of 700 Products
Amul has slashed prices on over 700 products, including milk, ghee, butter, bakery items and paneer. A kilogram of ghee priced at ₹610 will now cost ₹40 less, while 100g of butter will be available at ₹58 instead of ₹62. Packaged milk will become cheaper by ₹2–3 per litre. Mother Dairy had earlier announced similar price cuts.
Cars and Two-Wheelers to See Major Reductions
Automakers including Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Hyundai Motor India will reduce car prices from Monday. Maruti Suzuki alone has announced cuts of up to ₹1.29 lakh across models, with entry-level cars seeing price reductions of more than 8.5%. Luxury carmakers Mercedes-Benz and BMW, along with leading two-wheeler companies, will also reduce prices in line with the revised GST.
