New Delhi, June 16: The Greater Noida Authority is taking stringent measures to maintain a clean and pollution-free environment. In a recent operation, the health department apprehended four tractor-trailers involved in illegal dumping in the Sector Zeta-1 area. These vehicles were caught red-handed dumping waste from builder societies into vacant plots.
The authority had been receiving numerous complaints about individuals collecting garbage from various parts of the city and dumping it in empty land, adversely affecting cleanliness, the environment, and public health. Acting on these complaints, the health department increased surveillance and successfully detained the four tractor-trailers and their drivers at the scene.
Investigations revealed that these vehicles were not transporting waste to designated disposal sites but were instead dumping it in vacant plots in Sector Zeta-1. Considering this a serious violation, the health department imposed a fine of ₹25,000 on each tractor-trailer, totaling ₹100,000.
Officials from the authority issued a stern warning that any vehicle caught engaging in such illegal activities in the future will face even harsher penalties. In cases of repeated violations, the tractor-trailers will be seized, and additional legal actions will be taken. Shree Lakshmi VS, the ACEO of Greater Noida Authority, urged citizens, builders, and relevant agencies to ensure proper waste disposal and assist the administration in keeping the city clean.
Shree Lakshmi VS emphasized that dumping waste in open areas not only violates regulations but also poses a serious threat to the environment and public health. The authority has made it clear that it will continue to conduct such campaigns to strengthen cleanliness efforts and take strict action against illegal dumping.
