New Delhi, April 25: The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation announced on Friday that it has strengthened the monitoring of large-scale infrastructure development through its Project Assessment Infrastructure Monitoring and Analytics for Nation Building (PAIMANA) platform. As of March, this platform is tracking 1,941 central sector projects valued at ₹41.50 lakh crore.
The government stated that this digital monitoring system is enhancing transparency, enabling timely reviews, and assisting ministries in data-driven decision-making.
According to the latest information, a total of ₹19.93 lakh crore has been spent on these projects across 17 central ministries and departments, which accounts for approximately 48.02 percent of the total revised cost.
This reflects continuous progress in project implementation, with many projects nearing completion. A significant portion of the monitored projects is already in advanced stages. Approximately 777 projects, or about 40 percent, have achieved over 80 percent physical progress, while 261 projects have surpassed the 80 percent mark in financial completion.
The transport and logistics sector continues to dominate India’s infrastructure landscape, comprising 1,428 projects with a revised cost of ₹22.66 lakh crore. This underscores the government’s ongoing emphasis on connectivity-based development, including roads, railways, aviation, and waterways.
Among the ministries, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways leads with 1,120 projects, totaling ₹10.61 lakh crore. The Ministry of Railways ranks second with 244 projects, contributing the largest share of ₹8.37 lakh crore.
Other major contributors include the ministries of Coal, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Power, and Housing and Urban Affairs.
In terms of project scale, the monitored portfolio includes 786 mega projects, each costing ₹1,000 crore or more, with a total original cost of ₹30.48 lakh crore. Additionally, 1,155 major projects costing less than ₹1,000 crore contribute ₹5.41 lakh crore to the total project list.
