Government Delays All-Party Meeting Amid Ongoing Middle East Conflict, Says Tariq Anwar

New Delhi, March 24: Congress MP Tariq Anwar criticized the central government for its delay in convening an all-party meeting amidst the ongoing war in the Middle East. He stated that the government has been slow to act.

In a conversation in New Delhi, Anwar remarked, “Our government tends to delay every action. They take too long to think, which diminishes their appeal.”

Regarding the all-party meeting, he emphasized that the government should have taken this step as soon as the conflict in the Middle East began.

Anwar noted that the ongoing war is affecting the entire world, including India. “Everyone expected our government to play a crucial role in halting the war, but that has not happened,” he added.

He further stated that after so many days of conflict, the government has realized the need to involve all political parties. However, he expressed concern that the delay in calling the all-party meeting may limit its future effectiveness. “This is a challenging time, and the country is facing a crisis,” he said.

On Prime Minister Modi’s address in the Rajya Sabha, Anwar claimed it lacked impartiality.

It is worth noting that during his address, PM Modi mentioned he has been in contact with the heads of state from most countries in West Asia since the war began. He emphasized ongoing dialogues with Gulf nations, Iran, Israel, and the United States, aiming to restore peace through dialogue and diplomacy.

The situation in the Strait of Hormuz is critical, with many ships stranded, including a significant number of Indian crew members. This poses a major concern for India. In such a dire situation, it is essential that the voice of peace and dialogue resonates from the upper house of India’s Parliament to the world.
