New Delhi, April 20: The government announced on Monday that at least 100 entities have been linked to the Aadhaar-based offline verification system as ‘Offline Verification Seeking Entities (OVSE)’. This milestone was achieved within just three months of the system’s launch.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) considers this achievement a significant step towards promoting secure, paperless, and user-consent-based identity verification.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, these 100 entities include departments from both central and state governments, fintech companies, hotels, event management firms, educational institutions, and organizations involved in background and workforce verification.
The ministry stated that the inclusion of these entities will expedite service delivery, reduce processing times, and decrease reliance on physical documents.
In the Aadhaar offline verification system, users can share their limited and essential information through a QR code or digitally signed documents. This allows users to maintain full control over their data and decide which information to share with whom.
The government emphasizes that this system has been designed with data security and privacy in mind, thereby increasing public trust.
According to the ministry, this initiative is also a crucial step towards building a robust digital public infrastructure in the country, as it offers a scalable and secure system.
The government believes this will enhance the ‘ease of living’ by providing faster services, reducing paperwork, and simplifying daily tasks.
