Panaji, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : Goa Police have initiated an investigation into the death of Bollywood actor Nana Patekar, categorizing it as an unnatural death case. This action falls under Section 194 of the BNS Act, and the inquiry is being led by Police Sub-Inspector Nitin Naik.
Patekar was transported from his residence in Dona Paula to Manipal Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The police will conduct a panchnama and gather statements from family members and other relevant individuals to ascertain the cause of death, alongside the post-mortem report from GMC.
Currently, authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding his death. If it is determined to be natural, the case may be closed. However, should any foul play or suspicious conditions arise, further legal action will be pursued.
Earlier, Dr. Shekhar Salkar from Manipal Hospital informed the media that efforts to revive Patekar were unsuccessful, stating, “He was brought here in a state of death, and we had to file a police case.” He also noted that Patekar had a history of heart disease and was on medication.
Nana Patekar passed away early Thursday morning due to cardiac arrest at his home in Goa. Doctors attempted CPR for approximately 45 minutes but declared him dead at 5:20 AM. A post-mortem was conducted later that morning, after which his body was handed over to his family for final rites.
