New Delhi, August 5: Goa Chief Minister Dr. Promod Sawant met with Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday in New Delhi. During the meeting, he urged for the acceleration of the political reservation process for Scheduled Tribes (ST) in the Goa Assembly.
Chief Minister Sawant shared on the social media platform X that he received a positive assurance from the Home Minister regarding the swift implementation of political reservations for Scheduled Tribes in the Goa Assembly.
Sawant also informed the Home Minister about various development projects and welfare initiatives being undertaken by the Goa government. He requested continued guidance and support for the state’s development efforts.
Additionally, the Chief Minister invited Amit Shah to attend the ‘Police Colors’ ceremony, where the Goa Police will be honored by the President of India. He also extended an invitation for the inauguration of the new state headquarters of the BJP in Goa.
The Home Minister’s Office (HMO India) also posted on X, confirming the meeting between Goa’s Chief Minister Dr. Promod Sawant and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Before arriving in Delhi, Chief Minister Sawant flagged off a fleet of new vehicles at the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services in Panaji.
He stated that the new fleet, funded by the 15th Finance Commission and the Goa government, includes modern firefighting and emergency response vehicles. This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing disaster preparedness and public safety infrastructure in Goa.
The new fleet comprises eight medium-sized water tenders, a state-of-the-art response vehicle for hazardous materials, a 42-meter turntable ladder for rescue operations in high-rise buildings, and operational support motorcycles. This will significantly boost the capacity of fire and emergency services to respond quickly and efficiently across the state.
