
New Delhi, August 4: In a thrilling encounter in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026, the Outer Delhi Warriors emerged victorious over the New Delhi Tigers in a nail-biting Super Over. Monu Shukla was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding performance with the bat.
Winning the toss, the New Delhi Tigers opted to bat first, scoring 156 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 15 overs. Tanuj Panwar and Lakshya Thareja opened the innings, putting together a partnership of 23 runs for the first wicket. Tanuj scored 13 runs before returning to the pavilion, and the team struggled to build momentum, losing Shivam Gupta for just 5 runs.
At one point, the Tigers found themselves at 37 runs with 2 wickets down. Rain interrupted the match, but when play resumed, Lakshya and captain Himmat Singh formed a remarkable partnership, adding 101 runs for the third wicket in just 44 balls, bringing the score to 138.
Himmat Singh played a blistering innings of 61 runs off 25 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 4 fours, while Lakshya remained unbeaten on 62 runs from 41 balls. For the Warriors, captain Siddhant Sharma took 2 wickets, while Navdeep Saini, Pratham Saluja, and Shivam Sharma each claimed 1 wicket.
Chasing the target, the Outer Delhi Warriors managed to score only 155 runs, losing 9 wickets by the end of their innings. They lost Priyansh Arya for just 1 run at the start. Yajus Sharma, with a solid 52 runs, partnered with Akshay Saini to add 49 runs for the second wicket, trying to stabilize the innings. However, the team faced a collapse, losing 5 wickets for just 80 runs.
Monu Shukla then partnered with Harsh Tyagi to add 51 runs for the sixth wicket in just 22 balls, taking the score to 131. Monu scored 45 runs off 17 balls, hitting 8 boundaries, but the team needed just 1 run from the last 2 balls when they lost two wickets in quick succession.
For the Tigers, Manish Seharawat was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for 18 runs, while Hrithik Shaukeen, Pradyuman Sannan, and Rishabh Sharma each took 1 wicket.
In the Super Over, the Outer Delhi Warriors set a challenging target of 20 runs, with Monu Shukla again leading the charge, scoring all 20 runs off just 5 balls, including 3 sixes.
The New Delhi Tigers started their Super Over chase strongly, with Himmat Singh hitting a massive six off the first ball. However, he was dismissed on the next ball, leaving the team needing 15 runs from the remaining four balls. Hrithik Shaukeen followed suit, getting caught by the wicketkeeper on the very next delivery, resulting in a swift collapse of the team.
