Manuel Otto, a 30-year-old German influencer and creator of the game Stick Run, died after reportedly setting himself on fire during a livestream on Tuesday evening. His body was discovered in an attic room in Bavaria following a fire reported by a neighbor.

Otto’s death was confirmed by the Stick Run team, who expressed their sorrow in a statement on social media. “It is with a heavy heart that we confirm and announce the passing of our creator, developer, and fellow Stick Runner,” they wrote. They noted that a livestream appeared to show Otto taking his own life and stated that Twitch had subsequently removed the video.

A spokesperson for Twitch condemned the incident, saying, “What took place is horrible, and the mental health and wellbeing of our community matters deeply to us.” They emphasized the importance of seeking support for anyone struggling with mental health issues.

Stick Run has gained popularity since its launch in 2010, with over 43 million players worldwide. The game involves navigating obstacle courses as a stickman character.

The community has reacted with an outpouring of condolences, expressing gratitude for the impact Otto had on their lives. One statement read, “Thank you, Manuel, for being a part of our childhood. You will never be forgotten.” The company urged the public not to spread unverified information about the circumstances of his death.
