Ramgarh, May 15: In a high-profile murder case in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district, the First Additional District and Sessions Judge’s Court sentenced gangster Aman Srivastava and his accomplice Lakhan Saw to life imprisonment on Friday. The court also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on each of the convicted individuals. On May 7, both were found guilty of murder and criminal conspiracy.
Following the sentencing hearing, the court awarded life sentences for the murder charges and imposed fines. Additionally, under Section 120(B) for criminal conspiracy, both received life imprisonment and a fine of ₹10,000 each. They were also sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and a ₹10,000 fine under Section 27 of the Arms Act.
The court stated that if the fines are not paid, the convicts would face an additional year of rigorous imprisonment. Tight security measures were in place during the announcement of the verdict.
This case pertains to the murder of 70-year-old Kameshwar Pandey, a resident of Patratu. The incident occurred on October 26, 2015, when he was shopping at the local vegetable market. During this time, shooters from Srivastava’s gang opened fire, resulting in his immediate death. Pawan Kishore Pandey filed the first information report (FIR) in the case.
During the trial, it was revealed that Aman Srivastava conspired to commit the murder to instill fear and establish his dominance in the area. Investigations also confirmed that Kameshwar Pandey had no ties to any criminal activities. The police named Ganesh Singh alias Jaiprakash Singh, Lakhan Saw, and Aman Srivastava as accused in the case.
However, the prosecution could not present sufficient evidence and witnesses against Ganesh Singh, leading to his acquittal. The government was represented by APP Shradha Jaya Topno, while the defense was argued by Jharkhand High Court lawyer BN Tripathi and Ramgarh lawyer Mahendra Mahto.
