Jaipur, 20 August (Kiran News). Jawahar Circle police have busted a gang operating a fake online escort service and blackmailing people via social media, arresting four accused, including a woman. The main kingpin, Deepak, is still absconding, and police are conducting raids at possible hideouts to apprehend him. During investigation, it was found that the gang used Google Ads to display their advertisements on Google Search. As soon as a customer contacted them using numbers found on Google, they would ask for a hotel booking confirmation and take an advance amount.
Gang members would arrive near the hotel as directed by the customer and call them outside. They would then make the customer sit in a car, snatch their phone, and threaten to send messages about immoral activities to the customer’s relatives and family members, thereby extorting money from them.
Deputy Commissioner Jaipur (East) Sanjeev Nain informed that Jawahar Circle police arrested the accused Omprakash alias Raju Poonia, originally from Dayalpura Dudu and currently residing at Krishna Vihar Mansarovar, Manish Chaudhary alias Dugga Pawalia from Muhana, Bhagchand Gurjar from Akhaipura Mozamabad, and woman Sunny Devi from Asalpur Jobner. The gang has confessed to committing more crimes in Jaipur city. The main kingpin, Deepak, is still on the run, and efforts are being made to nab him. The investigation revealed that the accused used Google Ads to promote their website to the top. As soon as a customer called, an advance payment was taken.
Their modus operandi included: First, after taking the advance, no service would be provided. Second, a woman would be sent to the hotel to create a dispute, and the gang members present at the scene would beat up and rob the victim. Third, after providing the service, the woman would threaten to accuse the customer of molestation or rape and extort a large sum.
Under the supervision of Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Asharam Chaudhary and Assistant Police Commissioner Aditya Poonia, a team led by SHO Madanlal Kadwasra arrested the accused with the help of technical support and informants. During interrogation, they confessed to committing several similar crimes in Jaipur.
