Chandigarh, April 20: The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police has successfully dismantled a gang operated by foreign gangsters. Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced on Monday that four suspects have been arrested, and two foreign .30-caliber pistols along with eight cartridges were recovered from them.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Arman Singh from Ugana village, Chirag from Nalas Khurd village, Ravinder Singh alias Rahul from Nalas Kalan village in Rajpura, and Akshay alias Prince from Dhamoli village, all in Patiala.
In addition to the firearms, police teams also seized the sedan car they were traveling in.
DGP Yadav revealed that preliminary investigations indicated that one of the suspects, Akshay, was involved in the murder of the owner of the ‘Ware Well’ showroom in Abohar in July 2025. He provided logistical support to the main assailants, and further arrests are anticipated soon.
Sharing operational details, Additional Director General of Police (AGTF) Pramod Ban stated that a special team was formed upon receiving credible information about the movement of the gang members on the Ambala-Chandigarh highway towards Mohali. Checkpoints were established at various locations along the highway.
The police team apprehended the suspects near the Janetpur link road on the highway, recovering two foreign pistols and ammunition.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Mohali) Harmandeep Hans added that initial investigations revealed that the arrested criminals were tasked by their foreign-based handlers to carry out major crimes in the state.
The SSP noted that these arrests have successfully prevented further criminal activities in the region.
