Chennai, February 25: According to the latest bulletin from the Regional Meteorological Centre, light fog will persist in Chennai and several surrounding districts during the morning hours. Rain is forecasted in various parts of Tamil Nadu until March 1.
The weather department reported that the low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal has weakened, but its residual effects and moisture coming from the sea are causing instability in the weather. As a result, moderate rainfall is expected in some areas of southern Tamil Nadu and the northern districts.
Similarly, light to moderate rain is anticipated in Puducherry and its Karaikal region. The weather department indicates that rainfall may continue across the state until March 1.
A significant reason for the weather changes is the shift in the direction of sea winds and the increase in humidity. Additionally, light fog is likely to persist on Wednesday and Thursday mornings in the districts of Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Vellore, and Ranipet.
Due to the fog, visibility may be reduced in some inland areas and on highways. Authorities have advised drivers to exercise caution during the morning hours.
The weather department has also indicated that, alongside rain and fog, daytime temperatures may rise. By February 28, maximum temperatures in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are expected to be 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above normal.
Experts suggest that the combination of increased daytime heat and morning fog reflects the ongoing seasonal changes in the region. Farmers and those in rain-dependent areas are advised to stay updated with local weather forecasts.
The weather department stated that new warnings and advisories will be issued as conditions change.
