While the video clip runs just over a minute, it provides a brief glimpse into the mechanics and visual polish being developed. According to the developers, this is only a taste, with more comprehensive reveals planned for Tokyo Game Show 2025, which runs from September 25–28 this year.

“Things are still under development, but I really wanted to show you this here at Evo 2025,” said Riichiro Yamada, producer of the Virtua Fighter Project, speaking through a translator.

“What we treasure most is innovation and reality, and we’ve been working so hard to further pursue this. We will be sharing more details, so please check it out later on.”

Gameplay Mechanics Teased

The short clip reveals several intriguing new mechanics:

  • Whiffed attacks now trigger a slow-down and zoom-in effect, highlighting missed moves with cinematic flair.

  • Certain attacks cause a red glowing damage spot to appear on a character’s body. If hit again in the same spot, it causes a stagger effect, leaving them vulnerable to extended combos.

These features suggest a greater focus on tactical punishment and visual clarity, potentially creating new layers of strategy for competitive players.

Stay tuned for further updates when the game appears again at Tokyo Game Show 2025.
