Dhaka, October 19 (Daily Kiran): A massive fire that broke out on Saturday afternoon at the cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka was brought under control after nearly seven hours of firefighting efforts. Flight operations, which were suspended following the incident, resumed late at night.

According to reports, the fire started around 2:15 PM in the cargo area of the airport and spread rapidly, forcing authorities to halt all flight operations immediately. Thick black smoke rising from the site was visible across surrounding areas.
In a precautionary move, several domestic flights were diverted to Chattogram, while fire service units and airport personnel worked jointly to control the blaze.
As reported by Prothom Alo, citing the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, the fire was completely extinguished by 9:30 PM, allowing flights to resume safely.
Officials confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. An official investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire and to recommend measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
