Washington, 23 August (Kiran News): US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington will host the draw for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Speaking at a press conference, Trump said, “The 2026 FIFA World Cup draw will be held at the Kennedy Center on December 5 this year.” FIFA President Gianni Infantino was also present on the occasion.

President Trump is currently overseeing the $257 million renovation of the Kennedy Center. He said the center would be one of the main highlights of the celebrations marking America’s 250th anniversary next year.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico. It will be the first World Cup to feature 48 teams with a total of 104 matches.

Canada will host 13 matches, including 10 group stage games, equally divided between Toronto and Vancouver. Mexico will also host 13 matches, including 10 group stage games in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey. The remaining matches will be played across 11 cities in the USA.

FIFA has already started preparations for the grand event. The organisation has set up its field offices in Miami and in Trump Tower, New York.
