Field Yates Predicts Top 10 Picks for 2027 NFL Draft, Highlights Drew Mestemaker
Field Yates released his mock draft for the 2027 NFL Draft, with Drew Mestemaker as the projected top pick.

ESPN’s Field Yates forecasts Drew Mestemaker of Oklahoma State as the top choice for the 2027 NFL Draft. Yates highlights Mestemaker’s performance, noting he has thrown for 1,940 yards, 16 touchdowns, and six interceptions this season.
Yates described Mestemaker, a 20-year-old dual-threat quarterback, as having considerable upside, stating, “He is a fearless playmaker who can impact nearly every blade of grass on the field.” This comes as Mestemaker rises on draft boards, despite not starting at quarterback until college.
Yates’ projected top 10 picks includes quarterbacks CJ Carr from Notre Dame and Trinidad Chambliss from Ole Miss. Notably absent are Arch Manning from Texas and Dante Moore of Oregon, both of whom were considered top prospects entering the season. Sources suggest that Manning and Carr may return to school to further develop their skills.
As the 2027 NFL Draft approaches, scheduled for April 29 to May 1 in Washington D.C., the competition for quarterback prospects continues to evolve. With the college football season nearing its midpoint, players have opportunities to enhance their draft standings.
Other teams are also looking to address needs in various positions. The Cleveland Browns, for instance, have two first-round picks and are projected to search for a young quarterback to compete with their current backups, Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel. The Miami Dolphins are similarly in need of stability at the quarterback position.
As teams prepare for the draft, Yates’ analysis indicates that the 2027 class may contain strong prospects expected to make significant impacts in the league.
