New Delhi, August 17: BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal has responded to the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) issuance of notices to actors Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff regarding their promotion of Vimal Elaichi. Khandelwal described the FDA’s action as lawful and commendable. He emphasized that the message must be clear: in this country, laws, regulations, and consumer interests are paramount. No individual’s popularity or celebrity status can exempt them from following the law.
He expressed concern that some well-known personalities engage in promoting products for commercial gain, raising serious legal and ethical questions about advertising and branding. Millions look up to these celebrities as role models, which increases their social responsibility. If they disregard regulations, it sends a wrong message to society and undermines respect for the law.
Khandelwal lamented that ignoring laws and regulations has become a trend. Whether it involves certain celebrities or foreign direct investment (FDI) companies, there have been numerous instances where rules are deliberately violated or misinterpreted. This trend is alarming and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
The BJP leader stressed that there should be uniform rules for everyone in business, industry, entertainment, or any other sector. If ordinary citizens and small traders are bound to follow the law, then large brands, corporations, and prominent figures should be held to the same standards. Respect for the law is the foundation of a healthy business environment and a responsible society.
He expressed hope that the Maharashtra FDA will conduct a fair and transparent investigation into this matter and ensure appropriate action is taken. This will prevent any individual or organization from bypassing regulations due to their popularity, influence, or financial power. The rule of law must prevail in the country, and it should be evident that no one is above the law.
