New Delhi, June 4: The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to kick off on June 11. This mega football event has seen several players who have carried on their fathers’ legacies. Here are five father-son pairs who have represented their national teams in the World Cup.
Luis and Mario Perez: Both Luis and Mario Perez have played in the FIFA World Cup for Mexico. Father Luis was part of the team in the 1930 World Cup, while his son, midfielder Mario, played in the 1950 World Cup. However, neither father nor son managed to score a goal during their World Cup appearances.

His son Ademir had the opportunity to play in one match during the 1974 World Cup but also did not find the back of the net.
Roger and Patrice Rio: Father Roger and son Patrice Rio have both represented France in the FIFA World Cup. Roger played one match in the 1934 World Cup, where he did not score. Patrice was part of the Brazil team in the 1978 World Cup but also failed to score during his appearances.
