Farmers Wheat Procurement to Be Ensured Under Transparent System: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Bhopal, April 21: Central Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed the wheat procurement process in the Vidisha parliamentary constituency on Tuesday. He emphasized that farmers should face no issues and that every farmer’s wheat must be purchased without exception.

During a video conference, Chouhan conducted a detailed review of the wheat procurement system in Vidisha. The meeting included legislators from all eight assembly constituencies—Vidisha, Sanchi, Ganjbasoda, Budhni, Bhojpur, Khategaon, and Ichhawar—as well as district collectors and other senior officials.

Chouhan stressed the importance of making the procurement process smooth and transparent. He instructed officials to coordinate with representatives to ensure adequate arrangements at all procurement centers. Attention should be given to the availability of jute bags, slot booking systems, and all aspects related to farmers’ convenience. Farmers should not face any inconvenience, and the procurement process must be organized, simple, and farmer-friendly.

He mentioned that local officials and representatives should ensure immediate solutions for any identified issues or shortcomings. They should also discuss with the government to prevent any shortage of jute bags and ensure that the procurement volume remains adequate. Additionally, he urged officials to verify farmers who could not book slots promptly and to take effective measures to improve server speed. He plans to discuss extending the procurement deadline, increasing procurement volumes, adding more weighing scales, and continuing purchases on holidays if necessary.

Chouhan called for officials and representatives to strengthen and streamline arrangements at their levels. He will also engage in detailed discussions with the Madhya Pradesh government and the Chief Minister to ensure that all wheat procurement arrangements are better and more balanced. His goal is to ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience and that the entire process operates smoothly. If needed, he will personally visit all districts in the Vidisha parliamentary constituency to hold separate meetings and review ground-level arrangements to take necessary actions.
