Farah Khan Faces Backlash After Refusing Traditional Welcome at Event

Farah Khans refusal to receive a traditional welcome at an event has sparked widespread criticism on social media.

Mumbai, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : Farah Khan, the renowned filmmaker and choreographer, is currently facing significant backlash on social media. Reports indicate that she declined to receive a traditional welcome during a recent event, leading to a wave of criticism from netizens.

A video circulating online shows Khan being welcomed with an “aartii” plate in a hotel lobby. However, when a staff member approaches her to apply a ceremonial mark on her forehead, she refuses and opts instead for a mark on her wrist.

The video quickly went viral, igniting a flurry of comments from social media users. One user remarked, “Farah Khan seems offended when a woman applies a traditional mark on her forehead. She wears nail polish, which is considered haram in Islam, but is upset about a mark that symbolizes Hindu culture. This is a classic example of Bollywood’s so-called elites.”

Another commenter added, “Farah previously rejected a floral welcome and now refuses to accept a kumkum mark on her forehead. If she knows such customs will be part of the event, why attend? Some people just crave controversy. Is it appropriate for Farah to be treated this way? Those who invited her are equally foolish.”

A user further questioned, “She appears secular in public, so why did secular Farah Khan refuse the traditional mark?” As of now, details regarding the event’s location and purpose have not been disclosed.

Farah Khan is a prominent figure in Indian cinema, having choreographed songs across Bollywood and South Indian films. She made her directorial debut with “Main Hoon Na” in 2004 and followed it up with “Om Shanti Om” in 2007, along with other musical hits like “Tees Maar Khan” in 2010 and “Happy New Year” in 2014.
