Imphal, August 1: Indian boxer Mandengbam Jadumani Singh won a silver medal in the men’s 55 kg category at the Commonwealth Games 2026 held in Glasgow on Saturday. Jadumani expressed his determination to win a gold medal at the upcoming Asian Games.
After securing the silver medal, Jadumani Singh stated, “I gave my all in this competition to win the gold medal, but there were some shortcomings. I will work on them and eliminate them. I will win a gold medal for India at the upcoming Asian Games.”
Jadumani’s older brother, Mandengbam Robinson Singh, shared, “We thought he would win the gold medal, but that didn’t happen. It is very disappointing. We believe he will win gold at the upcoming Asian Games.”
Jadumani’s uncle, Mandengbam Milan Singh, commented, “The final match was different from the previous bouts. I really don’t know how he performed today. We are very sad because we were hoping for a gold medal. This was his first time competing in the Commonwealth Games. Even though he didn’t win gold, we are happy he secured a silver medal. He will prepare for the Asian Games in Japan, and we hope he performs well.”
Jadumani’s aunt, Mandengbam Ongbi Abem, added, “The entire family and neighbors watched the match together and were emotional about the results. We watched the match with our family and neighbors. Today, when we saw his performance, we felt anxious. His performance was completely different from previous matches. We had high hopes for gold. We will continue to support him.”
