Amritsar Police Dismantles Drug and Arms Trafficking Networks, Arrests 11 Suspects
Amritsar police have arrested 11 suspects linked to arms and drug trafficking networks, seizing illegal firearms and heroin.

Amritsar, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : Amritsar police achieved a significant breakthrough in their ongoing campaign against organized crime, illegal arms trafficking, and drug networks. Authorities arrested 11 suspects involved in three separate trafficking operations. During the operation, officers seized 12 illegal pistols, two hand grenades, 310.10 grams of heroin, and 33 live cartridges.
According to the Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab, initial investigations revealed that the suspects were in contact with handlers and gangsters based abroad. These foreign operatives facilitated the delivery of illegal weapons and narcotics into Punjab using drones. The supplies were then distributed to individuals engaged in criminal activities.
The investigation also uncovered that the suspects used illegal firearms to intimidate others. Reports indicated that they fired shots at homes and businesses to instill fear and compel victims to submit to their demands for extortion. The police are now focused on identifying the foreign connections and local collaborators associated with this network.
The DGP noted that three separate FIRs have been filed at the Ranjit Avenue, Chheharta, and Sultanwind police stations in Amritsar. Based on interrogations of the suspects, police are working to link the various elements of their network.
The primary goal of the investigation is to identify additional suspects connected to the trafficking of arms and drugs, as well as the foreign handlers involved. Authorities are also determining how many shipments have been sent to Punjab via drones and the criminal incidents in which they were used.
Punjab police emphasized that their campaign against organized crime, arms trafficking, and drug smuggling will continue unabated. They are committed to dismantling such criminal networks to ensure a safer, drug-free Punjab.
