New Delhi, April 21: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge made a controversial statement about Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a press conference in Chennai on Tuesday. Criticizing the potential alliance between AIADMK and BJP, Kharge questioned how they could align with Modi, labeling him a “terrorist.” This remark drew sharp reactions from BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President Nitin Nawin, who condemned Kharge’s comments.
In a post on social media platform X, Home Minister Amit Shah stated, “Every day, Congress is showing a new decline in its behavior, breaking its own record in degrading public discourse. Today, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has crossed every standard of public conduct by calling our elected Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, a ‘terrorist,’ thereby shaming the nation. This insult to our greatest leader is also an insult to the millions who love and support Modi.”
He further emphasized that labeling a leader like Modi, who has effectively eradicated terrorism over the past 12 years, as a “terrorist” is utterly reprehensible. Shah noted that whenever Congress hurls insults at PM Modi, the people of India respond. “This time too, the public will respond,” he added.
BJP National President Nitin Nawin remarked, “The use of the term ‘terrorist’ by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for Prime Minister Modi epitomizes the declining politics of Congress. This is not just an insult to one individual but also a disregard for the mandate of 1.4 billion citizens who have expressed their trust through democratic processes.”
He continued, “Whenever Congress is cornered on issues of development and facts, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and their associates resort to such statements to divert attention. As women in the country demand their rights from Congress, such low-level comments reflect their desperation.”
Nawin concluded by stating that Congress and Rahul Gandhi should apologize to the nation for such remarks. “Whenever Rahul Gandhi and his entourage have crossed the limits of decorum, the public has given them a fitting reply. This time too, the people will respond,” he asserted.
