Fact Check: False Reports of Fire at India-Israel Defense Facility in New Delhi

New Delhi, March 12: Amid escalating attacks from Iran in West Asia, misinformation and false claims are rapidly spreading. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs’ fact-checking unit and PIB are actively debunking these false reports. Recently, a fabricated story claimed there was a fire at the India-Israel joint defense facility in New Delhi.

The fake news alleged that a massive fire broke out at the facility, resulting in the deaths of several workers from both countries. Indian media has pointed fingers at supporters of Iran for spreading these rumors.

Additionally, another false report claimed that a joint production facility for Harop drones, developed in collaboration with Israel, also experienced a severe fire, leading to casualties among Indian and Israeli citizens.

The MEA fact-check unit has categorically stated that these reports are false. They urged the public to be cautious of such baseless claims circulating on social media. Furthermore, there is no official information confirming the existence of an India-Israel defense facility in the capital.

A deepfake video featuring MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal also surfaced, in which he purportedly stated, “There should be no doubt that India will first confirm Iran’s involvement in such attacks, and if confirmed, Iran will face a harsher response than Pakistan. India does not support terrorism and will not spare Iran for any attacks against it.”

The MEA fact-check unit has firmly denied the authenticity of this deepfake video. Previously, a deepfake video featuring India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar circulated, containing false statements regarding Iran. PIB also fact-checked this incident and advised the public to remain vigilant.
