External Forces Cannot Change Power in India, Asserts Anish Gawande

NCP leader Anish Gawande asserts that no external influence can alter Indias political landscape amid RSS chiefs remarks.

New Delhi, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : Anish Gawande, a leader from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has firmly stated that external forces cannot bring about a change in power in India. His comments follow a statement made by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat regarding regime change during a recent event in Nagpur.

The event marked the centenary celebration of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and featured speeches by Bhagwat, who discussed the current political climate in various countries, including France, Albania, Nepal, and Bangladesh. He expressed concerns over a perceived “storm” from the West that threatens traditional values and governance.

Bhagwat emphasized that the notion of regime change does not lead to improved conditions, asserting, “This has never happened before, and it will not happen today.” In response, Gawande reassured Bhagwat that power in India has never changed due to external influences and remains confident in the nation’s democratic framework.

Gawande urged Bhagwat to reflect on the history of the RSS, especially in light of his comments about student protests being labeled as calls for regime change. He also criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its reluctance to convene all-party meetings on delimitation issues, suggesting that the BJP only recognizes the need for dialogue when it suits its authoritarian approach.

He pointed out that despite previous requests for discussions on various issues being ignored, the opposition is now compelled to take to the streets. Gawande called for a special parliamentary session regarding the Election Commission to address ongoing concerns.

Addressing the imprisonment of youth leaders from the Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP), he condemned the misuse of law to suppress young voices, describing it as a deliberate conspiracy.

Gawande’s comments underscore the ongoing tensions within Indian politics and the challenges faced by the opposition in asserting its voice against the ruling party.
