New Delhi, June 20: Former CPI(M) MP Hannan Mollah has launched a scathing attack on the central government following the Delhi High Court‘s dismissal of Telegram’s petition regarding alleged irregularities in the examination system and paper leaks. He stated that the country’s examination framework is in a severe crisis, with students bearing the brunt of the fallout.
In an interview with a news agency, Mollah revealed that the conspiracy behind the examination system has now been exposed. He expressed deep concern over the misuse of various competitive and recruitment exams, claiming that nearly 100 million students have been affected by this chaos over the past 12 years. The repeated cancellations of exams have left students’ futures hanging in the balance and created a pervasive atmosphere of despair among the youth.
Mollah noted that many students face mental stress due to exam cancellations or delays in results, even after years of preparation. He alleged that some students have resorted to suicide as a result of this dire situation. He questioned how responsible ministers remain in their positions despite such massive failures, asserting that the government is not taking adequate steps to address these issues.
During the discussion, Mollah also commented on the ongoing movement concerning land rights and farmers’ issues against the central government. He emphasized that the demands of the movement are crystal clear. A significant portion of the country’s population resides in rural areas, with many poor individuals forced to migrate to cities in search of jobs, often ending up in slums.
He pointed out that farmers do not just cultivate for their families; they also play a crucial role in ensuring the nation’s food security. Farmers provide essential food grains and raw materials for both the public and industries. Despite this, the government is neglecting farmers’ interests. Mollah accused the current administration of pursuing anti-farmer policies. Farmers work hard to grow crops but are not receiving fair prices for their produce, turning agriculture into a losing venture and plunging farmers into economic distress. He highlighted the ongoing incidents of farmer suicides, criticizing the government’s lack of sensitivity towards this grave issue.
The former MP asserted that no business can operate at a continuous loss, and agriculture is no exception. If farmers do not receive profitable prices for their crops, the agricultural sector will face a serious crisis. He demanded that the government ensure fair prices for farmers’ produce, but noted that the government appears unwilling to do so.
Accusing the central government of failing to fulfill promises made to farmers and the general public, Mollah stated that many commitments have gone unaddressed. “We have been fighting against the government’s policies for the past decade. Our goal is to organize the people and strengthen their voices. The government must understand the power of the public and take the issues of farmers, laborers, and youth seriously,” he concluded.
