Washington/London, October 18 (Daily Kiran): European leaders on Friday reiterated their unwavering support for Ukraine during a virtual call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, held shortly after his meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House.

According to a statement from Downing Street, the leaders reaffirmed their unity in standing by Ukraine “in the face of continued Russian aggression.” The statement added that “a just and lasting peace for Ukraine remains the only way to end this war permanently.”
As reported by CNN, a Downing Street spokesperson said that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also participated in the call. All leaders agreed to continue discussions on how best to support Ukraine both before and after any potential ceasefire.
Earlier, Trump and Zelensky met for the third time since the start of the conflict. The high-level meeting, which lasted several hours and included Zelensky’s top advisers, was described by sources as tense and uncomfortable, reflecting ongoing disagreements over the direction of the war.
President Trump reportedly refused to approve the delivery of long-range missiles capable of striking deep inside Russian territory, emphasizing instead the need for a ceasefire in Ukraine.
The White House meeting and subsequent European talks highlight the growing strategic differences between Washington, Kyiv, and Europe over the future of the war — even as all sides continue to express solidarity with Ukraine’s sovereignty and security.
