Lucknow, February 17: The Uttar Pradesh government has accelerated its multi-faceted initiatives to connect the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) sector with technology. Through digital platforms, training programs, technological upgrades, and policy reforms, the state aims to enhance the competitiveness and market orientation of over 9.6 million MSME units. These efforts by the Yogi government have boosted production capacity and invigorated job creation.

The combination of digital infrastructure, policy simplification, and financial support has laid the groundwork for making the state a leading industrial center. For the fiscal year 2026-27, the budget for MSME schemes proposes ₹3,822 crores, reflecting a 19% increase compared to 2025-2026.

Under the One District One Product scheme, an online platform has been developed for marketing development, toolkit distribution, and training. This initiative provides technology-based skill training to artisans from SC-ST and OBC communities. By linking traditional products with e-commerce and digital marketing, the reach of local goods has expanded to national and international markets.

The MSME Champions Initiative (Champions Portal) offers selected units technical assistance for adopting modern machinery, improving quality, and utilizing digital tools. The aim is to enhance competitive capacity by reducing production costs. Millions of units are benefiting from digital upgrades and marketing support.

Launched on January 24, 2021, the Udyam Sarthi app provides a single platform for digital registration, information on schemes, and operational guidance. This facilitates quick access for entrepreneurs to government schemes and incentives. The RAMP (Rising and Accelerating MSME Performance) scheme, supported by the World Bank, also provides financial and technical assistance, promoting the expansion and modernization of units.

The MSME policy implemented in 2022 has simplified processes. The plug-and-play model allows operations to commence within 72 hours. Increased credit flow and insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh have eased risk management for entrepreneurs. These measures have strengthened the investment environment.

Technological improvements have also impacted job creation. The MSME sector has long been a livelihood source for millions, and digital transformation has introduced new opportunities. By connecting with e-commerce and online supply chains, rural and semi-urban units have gained access to broader markets.
