Emergency Humanitarian Aid from China Arrives in Colombia

Bogotá, August 20: On August 18, the Chinese government sent emergency earthquake relief supplies to Colombia, arriving at El Dorado International Airport in the capital, Bogotá.

At the airport, a welcome ceremony was held, attended by Chinese Ambassador Chu Qingyang, representatives from Colombia’s National Disaster Management Agency, the Foreign Ministry, and local government officials.

In his speech, Ambassador Chu highlighted the collaborative efforts of Chinese and Colombian teams who worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth arrival of the aid. He emphasized that this cooperation reflects the deep mutual support and strong friendship between China and Colombia, showcasing the mutually beneficial nature of their bilateral relationship.

David Santiago Tamayo, the director of Colombia’s National Disaster Management Agency, delivered a video message on the same day. He stated that this aid symbolizes the support provided by the Chinese government and people during Colombia’s challenging times. He assured that the local governments and relief agencies would coordinate to ensure the proper distribution of the supplies.
