Election Commission Acting as a Puppet of the Ruling Party: Sukdev Bhagat

New Delhi, March 16: Congress leader Sukdev Bhagat has responded to questions raised by Nana Patole regarding the election dates. He stated that skepticism is natural. He pointed out that in previous results, wherever gaps appeared, the ruling party gained an advantage, leading to doubts about the integrity of the process.

Bhagat further emphasized the timing of events, noting that the Prime Minister inaugurated projects worth ₹16,800 crores in Bengal just a day before the Election Commission announced the election dates. He accused the Election Commission of functioning like a puppet for the ruling party.

Regarding the Rajya Sabha elections, Bhagat expressed confidence about their prospects in Haryana and anticipated favorable outcomes in Bihar as well, where the UPA allies are involved.

On speculations about the NDA’s inclusion of TVK ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, Bhagat remarked that the BJP’s strategy of division and financial inducements would not attract those who believe in secularism or the Constitution.

In response to Rahul Gandhi’s demand for the Bharat Ratna award for Kanshiram, Bhagat agreed, stating that Gandhi’s comments were made in the right context. He reiterated Congress’s commitment to integrating marginalized and oppressed communities into the mainstream, a principle that has guided their policies.
