New Delhi, 1 January: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a major raid in South Delhi’s Sarvpriya Vihar, recovering cash worth Rs 5.12 crore, gold and diamond jewellery valued at Rs 8.8 crore, along with documents related to properties worth Rs 35 crore. Following this, the central agency carried out a search operation at the residence and farmhouse of Sunil Gupta in Westend Green Farms.
The search operation began on 30 December and is still ongoing at Sunil Gupta’s premises.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Sunil Gupta had previously extended a loan to Aman Kumar, an associate of Inderjit Singh. After the ED’s inquiry, it was found that Aman Kumar transferred a large sum of money to Sunil Gupta in an attempt to conceal the proceeds of crime.
So far, cash amounting to Rs 1.22 crore and jewellery worth nearly Rs 8.50 crore have been seized from Sunil Gupta’s locations in Westend Green Farms.
Earlier, the ED reported that searches were conducted against Inderjit Singh Yadav, his associates, Apollo Green Energy Limited, and related entities under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
According to the ED investigation, Inderjit Singh Yadav faces allegations of illegal extortion, forced loan repayments from private financiers, intimidation through weapons, and earning commissions from these unlawful activities. The money laundering investigation was initiated in connection with these charges.
The probe is based on over 15 First Information Reports (FIRs) and filed chargesheets registered by Haryana and Uttar Pradesh Police. These cases have been lodged under various sections of the Arms Act, 1959, the BNS Act, 2023, and the Indian Penal Code, 1860, against Inderjit Singh Yadav and his associates.
On 30 December, the ED made substantial recoveries during a search at a location linked to Aman Kumar in Sarvpriya Vihar, New Delhi, who is identified as an associate of Inderjit Singh Yadav.
