New Delhi, May 19: The police in East Delhi’s Ghazipur area have made a significant move against drug trafficking. A young man has been arrested, and 400 grams of cannabis were seized during the operation. This action was part of routine patrols and surveillance efforts.
The arrested individual has been identified as Roopesh Kumar, 22, a resident of Railway Colony, Mandawali, Delhi. He has been charged under Section 20 of the NDPS Act.
On the night of May 15, around 10:30 PM, the police team was patrolling the Bhains Mandi Dairy Farm area in Ghazipur when they noticed a suspicious individual. Upon suspicion, the police stopped him for a search. During the search, a white plastic bag was found in his possession.
Upon inspection of the bag, police discovered 400 grams of cannabis. The suspect was apprehended and taken into custody.
During questioning, the accused revealed that he purchased cannabis from a woman who met him near Preet Vihar Park. However, he could not provide her full identity or address. The police stated that they are now conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. They are also looking into the supply network and other connections to expose the entire operation.
According to police officials, questioning of the suspect is ongoing, and efforts are being made to identify others linked to this drug trafficking network. Additionally, measures are being taken to dismantle the supply chain. The East District Police emphasized that their campaign against drugs will continue, and they will not tolerate drug trafficking at any level.
