DRDO Scientist Highlights Future Warfare at IIT Delhi Open House

At IIT Delhis Open House, DRDO scientist Dr. Binay Kumar Das emphasizes technology and innovation as key to future warfare.

New Delhi, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : During the 19th Open House at IIT Delhi, Dr. Binay Kumar Das from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) addressed the evolving nature of warfare. He stated that in the future, technology, intellectual property, and design will be the true weapons. With 65% of India’s population under the age of 35, he emphasized that the youth will play a crucial role in building a new India.

Professor Ashwini Agrawal, Director General of DRDO’s Electronics and Communication Systems (ECS), echoed these sentiments, highlighting IIT Delhi’s significant responsibility in developing technology for society and the nation. He invited the public to explore the institution’s research.

Dr. Das expressed gratitude for the opportunity to speak at such a prestigious institution and congratulated the faculty and students involved in organizing the event. He believes this initiative can instill a sense of nationalism and knowledge in the youth, who attended in large numbers to witness the progress and innovations presented.

He pointed out that the landscape of warfare is changing. According to Dr. Das, future conflicts will rely more on technology and intellectual assets than on traditional weapons like tanks and missiles. He stressed that those who possess these resources will lead the world. With the visionary guidance of India’s dynamic Prime Minister, he feels that the nation is committed to becoming a great power, achievable only through technological innovation.

Dr. Das confidently predicted that India would one day top the global innovation index, thanks to the remarkable achievements of its institutions, professors, and students. He urged the youth, who represent the largest demographic in the world, to take ownership of the country’s future.

He stated that a great India cannot be built merely by developing disparate systems; it requires collaboration and a unified vision among the education sector, industries, research organizations like DRDO and ISRO, and startups.

For India to become the global capital of innovation, Dr. Das believes the brightest minds must work together to create unprecedented solutions. He encouraged every young person to play their part in this collective effort, advocating for a mantra of faith in India, residing in India, and loving India.

Professor Agrawal expressed his happiness at the successful organization of Open House 2026, inviting everyone to witness IIT Delhi’s contributions to the nation. He emphasized the institution’s responsibility to develop technology for society, noting the launch of ‘Research Ambit,’ a website showcasing their research activities and publications. He welcomed the public to engage with IIT Delhi and consider becoming a part of its endeavors.
