Jamui, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : A troubling incident has emerged from Jamui, Bihar, where a young couple on a motorcycle was reportedly stopped and harassed by a group of individuals. This incident took place in the Madwa village area of the Jamui town police jurisdiction. A video capturing the incident has quickly spread across social media, although its authenticity has yet to be confirmed.
In the viral footage, the couple is seen being surrounded by several people. The young woman is depicted pleading with the crowd, asking them to let them go. She can be heard saying, “We are just kids; please let us leave. We won’t come back again.” The video shows numerous bystanders present during the altercation.
Jamui’s Superintendent of Police, Vishwajit Dayal, stated that the police have acquired the video and have initiated an investigation based on its contents. The victim has been identified, and her statement has been recorded. According to the police, the incident occurred around 7 PM on September 19. The Superintendent noted that six to seven individuals can be seen in the video, and some of their identities have already been established by law enforcement.
The police are currently conducting inquiries to ascertain the involvement of additional individuals in the incident. Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has criticized the Bihar government in light of this event. RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav expressed concern over the situation, questioning the safety of young people in the state under the current administration. He alleged that it has become increasingly difficult for young men and women to go out freely, with public harassment incidents on the rise.
Authorities have assured that investigations are ongoing, and appropriate actions will be taken against those identified in the video and other involved parties.
