New Delhi, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has firmly rebutted allegations of voter fraud related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Delhi’s voter list. The Election Commission of India has issued notices to approximately 3.31 million voters due to discrepancies, a move that includes prominent figures such as former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
BJP leader Sanjay Sarawagi emphasized that the issuance of notices to high-profile individuals disproves claims by the opposition that the party is manipulating the SIR process to disenfranchise voters. He stated, “The same notices are being sent to everyone, including well-known figures, proving that there is no bias in the process.”
Sarawagi clarified that receiving a notice does not mean a voter’s name is being removed. Instead, those notified are given a month to respond, during which they must provide necessary documentation. The SIR process ensures that all voters receive identical notices.
In addition, BJP national spokesperson Guru Prakash asserted that SIR is a constitutional procedure that applies to everyone equally, underscoring the importance of adherence to the law.
Meanwhile, Rajiv Ranjan, a spokesperson for the Janata Dal (United) in Patna, criticized Kejriwal for his vocal opposition to the notices. He noted that it was surprising that Kejriwal reacted so strongly, given that other significant figures, including former Army chiefs and foreign ministers, also received similar notices. Ranjan reiterated that the SIR process treats all individuals without distinction.
