Discover the Ancient Significance of Hanuman Temple in Chamoli

New Delhi, March 17: Uttarakhand, known as the land of the gods, is rich in Indian history and mythology. One such sacred site is the Hanuman Temple located in Chamoli district, also referred to as Hanuman Chatti. This temple is believed to be linked to the Dwapar Yuga.

The Hanuman Temple in Chamoli, situated near Hanuman Chatti on the Badrinath route, is recognized for its mythological significance. These sites are deeply connected to religious faith, ancient tales, and traditions.

Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized the temple’s importance. He shared a special video of the temple on his social media platform, X, stating, “Hanuman Chatti, located in Chamoli, is believed to be associated with the Mahabharata era. It is said that at this location, Lord Hanuman imparted the message of humility to Bhima through his divine play. When you visit Chamoli, make sure to seek the blessings of Lord Hanuman at this sacred site.”

Hanuman Chatti is a religious and mythological site that carries ancient stories. It is associated with the Mahabharata, where it is believed that Lord Hanuman appeared to Bhima in the form of an old monkey to humble his pride in strength. When Bhima asked the monkey to move aside, Hanuman refused to budge his tail. Despite using all his strength, Bhima could not move it, leading him to realize that this was no ordinary monkey, but Lord Hanuman himself, thus breaking his arrogance.

Additionally, the temple’s history is also linked to the Ramayana. It is believed that Lord Hanuman rested here while traveling from Lanka to the Himalayas. The temple is considered highly powerful, and during winter, the area, covered in cedar trees and snow, takes on a supernatural ambiance.
