Digvijaya Singh Engages with Farmers During Saty Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra
Digvijaya Singh listens to farmers concerns about crop issues during his yatra from Ujjain to Ayodhya.

Bhopal, October 22 (Daily Kiran) : Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh met with farmers planting potatoes along the roadside on Thursday. This interaction occurred on the third day of his ‘Saty Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra’, which stretches from Ujjain to Ayodhya.
Farmers expressed their grievances regarding the shortage of fertilizers, electricity issues, and the low prices for their produce. They reported that the timely availability of fertilizers during the sowing season has been a significant challenge, compounded by the difficulties of a token-based distribution system. Additionally, they highlighted that power-related problems have adversely affected their agricultural activities.
Referring to their previous potato harvest, the farmers mentioned that they were unable to recover their production costs due to low market prices. Some noted that even after storing their produce in cold storage, the expenses exceeded their returns.
They urged Singh to address these pressing concerns of the farming community. In a social media post, Singh emphasized the cultural and religious significance of ‘Mother Earth’ and ‘Mother Sita’, linking them to the dignity of farmers.
“This land is not just a source of food but also the cradle of faith and culture. Farmers are the stewards and providers of this sacred land,” Singh stated. He stressed that respect for the soil and the dignity of farmers should be paramount.
Singh’s yatra commenced on October 20, coinciding with Vijayadashami, after prayers at the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain. The journey spans approximately 930 kilometers and will conclude with a visit to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. This initiative focuses on religious and cultural themes connected to Sanatan traditions.
The yatra includes participation from sadhus, saints, and the general public, as Singh engages with local residents and discusses various societal issues along the way. The meeting with potato farmers has brought to light concerns regarding agricultural resources, electricity supply, and crop prices during the journey.
