Dia Mirza Reflects on Taking a Two-Year Break at the Peak of Her Career

Mumbai, June 5: Bollywood actress Dia Mirza recently recalled a period in her life when she felt incomplete despite reaching career heights. In a podcast titled “All About Her” hosted by Soha Ali Khan, Dia shared that at just 24 years old, she decided to take a two-year break from her work.

Dia opened up about her career, personal life, and the emotions she faced at a young age. She stated, “I spent a significant part of my life in the modeling and acting world, but there came a time when I began to feel a disconnect between my work and my thoughts.”

She explained, “My primary role in the modeling industry was to promote products and brands. While that was part of my profession, over time, I realized that the values I believed in were not reflected in my work. At times, I felt no connection to my characters. Questions began to arise in my mind about what I was truly representing through my work and what my identity really was.”

The actress noted, “This internal struggle gradually intensified. Everything looked good from the outside. I had success, money, and a home in a big city like Mumbai. I was financially independent and had no worries about daily expenses. Yet, despite all this, I felt a lack of fulfillment. I started to believe that the work I was engaged in was not bringing me joy.”

Eventually, Dia made a significant decision in 2005. “I chose to take a two-year break at a crucial stage in my career. At that time, I was only 24, an age considered vital for any artist in the film industry, as it is when careers often advance the fastest.”

She added, “This break was not just a time away from work; it was a journey of rediscovery and self-recognition. It felt like returning home. This time helped me understand that life is not just about fame, money, and popularity. True happiness comes when a person feels connected to their work, thoughts, and purpose.”

During this period of self-reflection, Dia found the opportunity to look within herself. She explored the kind of work she enjoyed and the direction she wanted to take in life. She began to view her career from a new perspective, seeking projects that aligned more closely with her values and beliefs.
