Devotees Flock to Maihar Devi Temple for Navami Celebrations

Maihar, March 27: The Navami of Chaitra Navratri is being celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion across the country. Long queues of devotees have formed at the Maihar Devi Temple in Madhya Pradesh since early Friday morning. Everyone seems eager to have a glimpse of the goddess.

On Friday morning, the temple doors opened during Brahma Muhurat, filling the air around Trikoot Mountain with chants of “Jai Mata Di.” The atmosphere was charged with devotion and faith, making the ninth day of Navratri even more spiritually uplifting.

During this sacred time, Goddess Sharada was adorned with beautiful garments, floral garlands, and jewelry. This special decoration is performed by Dau Maharaj, who conducted the aarti with great reverence. A massive crowd of devotees gathered to witness the aarti, and the temple resonated with the joyous chants of “Jai Mata Di,” creating a completely devotional ambiance.

On the occasion of Navami, devotees participated in Kanya Poojan, Havan, and special prayers to receive the blessings of the goddess. Many pilgrims arrived from distant places early in the morning. Despite standing in long lines for hours, their faces radiated joy and devotion.

The administration made excellent arrangements for the devotees. Police and local administration teams were deployed to ensure that visitors faced no difficulties. Water, shade, and essential facilities were provided, allowing devotees to have a peaceful experience.

The scenes witnessed at Maihar Devi Temple on Navami were truly extraordinary. The enthusiasm of the devotees and the temple’s sanctity captivated everyone present.

Numerous mythological tales surround the temple. It is said that when Lord Shiva was carrying the body of Goddess Sati, a necklace belonging to her fell here, leading to the name ‘Maihar’ (Mai + Har = Mother’s Necklace). Additionally, legendary figures Alha and Udal, contemporaries of Prithviraj Chauhan, are credited with discovering this temple. Alha is believed to have meditated here for twelve years, earning the boon of immortality. It is still believed that Alha offers prayers to the goddess every morning at 4 AM.
