In Bhilwara district of Rajasthan, a severe road accident occurred on Friday morning due to dense fog in the Mandal area. At the Kothari bridge, limited visibility caused by thick fog led to a collision involving over half a dozen vehicles.
The crash resulted in the death of one person at the spot, while more than a dozen others sustained injuries. Eyewitnesses reported that the fog was so dense in the early morning that visibility was reduced to just a few meters. A sudden stop by one vehicle triggered a chain reaction, causing multiple vehicles behind it to collide with each other.
Following the incident, police and administrative officials arrived promptly to begin rescue and relief operations. Injured individuals trapped inside damaged vehicles were carefully extracted and taken to nearby hospitals, where treatment is currently underway. Some victims are reported to be in serious condition.
The accident caused a traffic jam extending nearly four kilometres around the Kothari bridge area, completely halting movement. Authorities managed the scene, coordinating the removal of damaged vehicles. A crane was used to clear a damaged truck from the road, restoring traffic flow gradually.
The police have launched a thorough investigation to determine the exact causes of the accident.
