New Delhi, August 6: In the 12th match of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026, the Outer Delhi Warriors secured a remarkable 39-run victory against the South Delhi Superstars. The match, held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, was affected by rain, but fast bowler Navdeep Saini played a crucial role, taking 3 wickets for just 9 runs in 2 overs.
After the win, Saini expressed his satisfaction, stating, “It feels great to win. We had a close match in our last game, and we lost one, so it was essential for us to perform well today. The key to our victory was our planning and executing it effectively. We trusted our strategies and executed them well.”
Saini also praised opener Yajus Sharma, who scored an unbeaten 64 runs off 29 balls, continuing his impressive form. He remarked, “Yajus is batting exceptionally well. We all know about his capabilities in domestic cricket and local tournaments. It’s great to see him capitalize on that and showcase his talent.”
Due to rain, the match was reduced to 10 overs per side. Saini explained how the team adapted to the conditions, saying, “We knew the match would be shorter, so we planned accordingly. In a 10-over match, the opposing team always tries to attack from the start. Our focus was on sticking to our plans and executing them well, which paid off.”
Batting first after losing the toss, the Outer Delhi Warriors scored 132 runs for 2 wickets in 10 overs. In response, the South Delhi Superstars were bowled out for 93 runs in just 9.4 overs. With this victory, the Outer Delhi Warriors climbed to second place in the points table, while the South Delhi Superstars fell to seventh after losing 2 out of their 3 matches.
