Delhi High Court Issues Notice to Kejriwal and Sisodia in Excise Policy Case

New Delhi, March 9: The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, and party leader Manish Sisodia regarding the excise policy case. All 23 accused have been asked to submit their responses to the CBI’s petition. The next hearing is scheduled for March 16.

During the hearing on Monday, the Delhi High Court placed a stay on the trial court’s comments against the CBI and its investigating officer. Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma directed the Rouse Avenue Court to postpone hearings related to the money laundering case until a decision is made on the CBI’s petition against the trial court’s ruling.

SG Tushar Mehta requested that the High Court issue an order to ensure that the Rouse Avenue Court’s decision does not affect the money laundering case. He stated, “This is one of the largest scams in the national capital. A scientific investigation has been conducted, and every aspect of the conspiracy has been proven.”

Following this, the High Court clarified that no hearings related to the Delhi liquor scam’s money laundering case would take place in the lower court until the matter is resolved in the High Court.

It is noteworthy that the Rouse Avenue Court had acquitted Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia along with 23 others in the excise policy case on February 27.

Kejriwal and Sisodia were released after spending months in jail. Upon their acquittal, the Aam Aadmi Party and the INDIA alliance accused the BJP of using central agencies for political gain. Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the BJP conspired against him to undermine his government in Delhi.

The CBI has filed a petition in the High Court challenging the Rouse Avenue Court’s decision.
