Delhi High Court Denies Arvind Kejriwals Plea in Excise Policy Case

New Delhi, April 20: The Delhi High Court, led by Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma, dismissed a petition filed by Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He sought to recuse himself from cases related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scandal. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva welcomed the court’s decision.

In a conversation, Sachdeva stated, “I welcome today’s decision. I also believe that criminals should not determine who the court or judge will be. Arvind Kejriwal’s problem is that he often displays excessive cleverness. This is part of his political style, and in doing so, he crosses boundaries and violates norms. The strength of our Constitution lies in the fact that court decisions, whether in favor or against, are based on facts and findings, not narratives.”

He further criticized Kejriwal for attempting to create a narrative in the excise case. “His theatrics of appearing in court and posting debate videos on social media directly violate the court and judicial system. This is the decorum that everyone in public life must adhere to. Therefore, I consider today’s ruling very significant. The judge clearly stated that justice does not operate on the whims of an individual or their directives. Justice is always based on evidence, facts, and findings. If you are innocent, the court will exonerate you; if guilty, you will be treated like a criminal.”

Sachdeva added, “The beauty of our judicial system is that judges still offer you opportunities to present your case. I believe our Constitution and judicial system are so well-crafted that every individual is given a chance to speak. However, individuals like Arvind Kejriwal attempt to exploit this for political gain.”
