Delhi Government Ramps Up Preparations for Chhath Puja at Bhalswa Lake
New Delhi officials ensure smooth Chhath Puja celebrations at Bhalswa Lake with thorough preparations and safety measures for devotees.

New Delhi, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : The Delhi government is intensifying its preparations for Chhath Puja, with District Magistrate Saloni Rai inspecting the arrangements at Bhalswa Lake on Thursday. The inspection aimed to ensure that devotees face no difficulties during the festivities, focusing on cleanliness, security, water quality, sanitation, and other essential facilities.
Rai’s visit was primarily to evaluate the readiness of the ghats and to facilitate coordination among various agencies responsible for providing services during the festival. Officials from the Delhi Police, Traffic Police, and other departments are actively involved in these preparations, working to ensure a hassle-free experience for attendees.
During her inspection, Rai noted that preparations are underway at Chhath Puja sites across Delhi. She emphasized the importance of ensuring all necessary amenities are in place at the ghats. “The Delhi government is conducting inspections at all Chhath Puja locations to guarantee that essential facilities are available. Relevant agencies will be on-site to ensure that devotees do not face issues related to safety, cleanliness, lighting, tents, or other amenities,” she stated.
Rai also mentioned that the administration is collaborating with the Traffic Police and Delhi Police to manage safety and traffic during the festival. Measures will be implemented to alleviate traffic congestion around the ghats and ensure the safe movement of devotees.
The Delhi Jal Board will assess water quality, while agencies will inspect toilets to ensure adequate availability and cleanliness. The responsibility for toilets at Bhalswa Lake lies with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), and the administration is coordinating with this agency to meet the needs.
Furthermore, the district administration is ensuring a sufficient presence of personnel on-site, including the deployment of Civil Defense Volunteers (CDVs) to maintain order and manage crowds.
Rai assured that strict monitoring of cleanliness at the ghats will be enforced. The administration will work with relevant departments to ensure that all facilities remain adequately available and functional throughout the festival.
This inspection is part of the Delhi government’s broader efforts to prepare for Chhath Puja, during which devotees gather at designated water bodies and ghats to worship the Sun God.
